Amber Living is founded on the premise that making your own skincare, cleaning and household goods is much better for the environment. In making your own products you're significantly reducing packaging waste as well as your reliance on plastic. Natural formulations also ensure toxic chemicals don't end up in our waterways.
But it doesn't end with our products. Sustainability and ethical business practices are at the heart and soul of this business and we are continually discovering new ways to offset any emissions and improve business ethics.
We have implemented a variety of strategies to reduce our carbon footprint in the following ways:
Carbon Offset Feature
We've teamed up with CarbonClick, a New Zealand company making it easy for people and businesses to help fight climate change. CarbonClick looks like a green button at checkout. When you click it, a small contribution is added to your basket which purchases carbon offsets. These offsets reduce the environmental impact of the carbon emissions related to the purchase. CarbonClick funds forest restoration, tree planting, and renewable energy projects around the world. We're proud to be part of the fight against climate change. We'll be making our own contributions, and changing our practices to reduce our carbon footprint. We hope you'll join us by choosing CarbonClick with your purchase.

We use Sendle as our preferred delivery fulfilment service. Sendle have partnered with South Pole to offset 100% of the carbon emissions for each and every delivery booked through their fulfilment service.

When it comes to packaging, we reuse any packaging materials received from our suppliers and when we run out, we source sustainable options. Our mailing boxes are Australian made and consist of recycled cardboard and we opt for hex paper wrap instead of bubble wrap wherever possible. If we do use bubble wrap it's made from a biodegradable material and we opt for paper fillers instead of plastic, etc. when purchasing packaging supplies.
When packaging our dry ingredients we use bags made from recycled paper with 100% natural corn based biofilm lining and/or kraft paper bags made from 100% recycled paper. Plastic sleeves and zip lock bags are made from compostable material and our packing tape is biodegradable.
We're also planning on transitioning from packaging our liquid ingredients in plastic bottles to a zero waste system.
In the Office
We extend our sustainable practices into the office, ensuring we keep our energy use to a minimum. We operate on a predominantly paperless system, ensuring a considerable reduction in the use of paper and printing. Reusing is our standard and if we can't reuse it, we recycle it wherever possible.
As we currently operate from home, we prepare our own lunch, coffee etc. instead of relying on takeaway lunches with disposable packaging.
We keep business-related travel to a minimum and plan business errands in one single trip.
